A sustainable future
Sustainability is at the heart of our operations Our commitment to sustainability runs throughout our business and supply chain. We’re committed to using resources wisely, reducing waste and cutting our carbon footprint. We’ve signed up to a variety of initiatives to help us progress smoothly on our sustainability journey.
We’ve signed up to WRAP’s Food Waste Reduction Roadmap, which tackles food surplus and waste in our operations. We’re playing our part to help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal 12.3 – to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030. We’re also corporate members of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). As members, we deliver IEMA-certified environment and sustainability training to Oscar Mayer employees, so they can help drive our efforts forward. Oscar Mayer also voluntarily operates an Environmental Management System (EMS) accredited to the Green Dragon Environmental Standard. Through our EMS, we ensure we’re always making environmental improvements, complying with environmental legislation and pollution prevention.
Our retail partners have set challenging targets to improve their sustainability too. We have a big part to play in these ambitions and work collaboratively to help achieve them. In 2021 we joined many of our retail and supplier partners in becoming signatories to the UK Soy Manifesto. It’s an industry-wide promise to work together and ensure all physical shipments of soy to the UK come from land unaffected by deforestation and conversion.
